Fawlty Towers was a seminal British television sitcom produced by the BBC, first broadcast on BBC Two in 1975 and 1979. Created and written by John Cleese and Connie Booth, the series is still widely regarded as one of the greatest British sitcoms ever made, often cited for its sharp writing, slapstick comedy, and farcical, character-driven storylines. The series consisted of only 12 episodes (two series of six), set at the fictional "Fawlty Towers" hotel in the seaside town of Torquay, Devon. The plot revolved around the frantic efforts of the rude, cynical, and socially ambitious owner, Basil Fawlty (John Cleese), to run his hotel, often thwarted by his own arrogance and bad temper.
